Why to meditate?

Why to Meditate?

Ramana maharishi's most important teaching is all the struggles and pain are due to our wrong identification with this body, mind and ego. The more we focus on the "Who am I", the real me who is the consciousness....in tamil nice word used "thannunarvu" தன்னுணர்வு the more peace we can experience.

While you slept for 6 to 7 hours you were there, but your struggles and pain were not there. It was a very beautiful peaceful experience. Every day we are experiencing the Brahmam....Sat, Sith, Aananda...சத் சித் ஆனந்தம் Being, Consciousness, Blissfullness during deep sleep state, (not the dream state), when we lose our identification with this physical body and mental body, no body and no mind but "I am still there".

Through meditation sages tell us that we can achieve that peace during Jakrath state, (wakefulness state) also.

Mind will still be wavering to see what's going around the house

Or what goes around everywhere else

Realizing and recognizing that i am watching too much TV, youtube or smoking or drinking is the first step in bringing a change to that habit.

Similarly realizing and recognizing that my mind is wavering is the first step in meditation. Because now i can say it is my body, my mind which means "I" must be someone else, so who am I ?

Every time when mind wavers or thinks something, Ramana maharishi says ask to whom this thought arises and I say "to me"...then who is this me or I .....is it this physical body ...no it will perish then is it this mind...no it keeps changing, not constant, not permanent...then who am I ? ....i know there is a consciousness which keeps saying me....so this consciousness is me ....i stay in that consciousness....i know body and even mind is "Jatam" insentient being but consciousness is the real sentient being.
