Plastic Water

 *Plastic Water*

In the recent times, the plastic bottles especially the packaged drinking water bottles have been bothering me a lot. They end up in the landfills or water bodies poisoning them or blocking the drainage systems causing floods.

I see the municipal corporations are collecting the decomposable and non-decomposable separately. Which is a very good start. In my home after some ten long years of persuation now they are throwing the decomposable and non-decomposable separately.

Instead of throwing the water bottles in the trash I wish the manufacturers took it back for a reasonable price or make us pay extra two rupees or five rupees and give it back when we return it. So that they get back their plastic for recyling or upcycling and our environment will be having less plastic poisoning. I hope this is taken up by the governments. (I think they are talking about tasmac liquor glass bottles return, which is a good start.)

US is not so good in trash handling, as all the trash goes to the same trash bags and ends up in the big landfills. May be in public places they collect it separately. Europe is ideal where they "segregate the trash at the source" in the homes separately such as food waste, plastic, paper, electronic waste etc. US with their huge land areas they can afford to do so. But India should follow the Europe model. In other words there is no such thing as trash, everything if taken back correctly can be recycled.

Also providing more drinking water kiosk in public places where we can fill up our own bottles for less price, will be ideal so that we do not want to buy the bottles. Of course Pepsi and Coca Cola would never allow that to happen. Our scarce water resources should also be saved from these jumbo corporations.
